  • 4 pm Vigil Mass

    Saturday Sep 2, 2023 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM

PLEASE NOTICE THE TIME CHANGE OF THIS VIGIL MASS

As I quote the book of Romans 8:28 which says.."We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose."

Let us give a warm welcome to Father Kris Kaczynski, our new Pastor here at St. Joseph Church. May God watch over him as he shepherds those at our Church as well as the Church of St. John Neumann in Califon.

  • Welcome Father Kris Kaczynski

    Saturday Sep 2, 2023 4:00 PM to 4:45 PM

Please welcome Father Kris Kaczynski as our 25th Pastor of St. Joseph Church. This will be his first Mass here at St. Joseph Church. We are thankful to have him and his wealth of knowledge and wisdom and please pray for him as he begins his shepherding of 2 Parishes which is not new to him but we still pray God protects him and the Holy Spirit enlightens him during his time here.

    Pray with me:

O Jesus, our great High Priest, hear our humble prayers on behalf of your priest, Father Kris. Give him a deep faith,

a bright and firm hope, and a burning love which will ever increase in the course of his priestly life.

In his loneliness, comfort him; in his sorrow, strengthen him; in his frustration,

point out to him that it is through suffering that the soul is purified.

Show him that he is needed by the Church, he is needed by souls, he is needed for the work of redemption.

O loving Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Priests, take to your heart your son who is close to you because of his priestly ordination,

and because of the power which he has received to carry on the work of Christ in a world

which needs him so much. Be his comfort, be his joy, be his strength, and especially help him to live and to defend the ideal of consecrated celibacy.

    Amen.

    God bless Father Kris.

  • 4 pm Vigil Mass

    Saturday Sep 9, 2023 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM

Saturday Evening Vigil Mass at 4 pm

At the same time, there is also an ancient tradition (going back even to Judaism) of keeping the Vigil. A Vigil is an observance of a Holy Day on the evening before (sometimes into the night). Even the word “Vigil” comes from Latin for “watchful” or “keeping awake.” The reason that a Mass on Saturday evening satisfies the Sunday obligation is that the Saturday evening Mass is a Vigil Mass for Sunday–you’re anticipating the celebration of Sunday on the evening before!

Join Father Kris as he celebrates the Sacrifice of the Mass at 4 pm.

Sometimes there may be a visiting Priest, Father Peter, or another, who helps Father Kris since he must split his time between our Parish and St. John Neumann Parish.
