Faith Formation

The Mission of the Faith Formation Program at St. Joseph Church is to foster spiritual growth and development to all children of the parish, regardless of special needs or circumstances. The goal of the program is to provide a safe and welcoming environment where learning through prayer, worship, community and service to others will be done in the Roman Catholic tradition.

Be on the lookout for information regarding the 2021-2022 Faith Formation School year.

Faith Formation, formerly known as CCD (Confraternity of Christian Doctrine) is the name given to the process of religious and spiritual education of children attending public school. The purpose is to assist parents in their role as the primary religious educators in guiding their children to God. Great reliance is put upon the home to nurture the seeds of faith instilled in class in living out what is taught. This is not an easy mandate, but if ever parents are called to be attentive to the spiritual needs of their children it is now in this age when the very need for God is almost negated. Faith Formation promotes and encourages in a special way weekly participation at Sunday Mass.

If you are new to the Parish and need to sign your child/children up for Faith Formation class, please click here to download/print the Faith Formation packet. You may drop off the completed packet to the Parish Office during normal business hours or place it in the locked mailbox located at the back entrance to the Rectory. You may contact, Mrs. Shari Schultz, our Parish Catechetical Leader at: (908) 638-6453 or email at [email protected]

To all of those who volunteer their time to teach the children, a very special thank you goes out to you. We would not be able to have our Faith Formation program if it weren't for all of you. Next time you email your teacher, make sure you say THANK YOU! Also another thank you goes out to our Parish Catechetical Leader, Mrs. Shari Schultz, for working tirelessly at preparing everything for the 2020-2021 school year.

We remember Kathryn Van Nest, outgoing, friendly, helpful, encouraging 8th-grade Catechist whose smile brightened everyone's day. May her soul rest in peace!
