Friday Oct 4, 2024

  • First Friday Adoration

    Friday Oct 4, 2024 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM

First Friday Adoration is tentatively scheduled for today from 3 pm to 6 pm in the Chapel located behind the Rectory.

Eucharistic Adoration is a Catholic devotion dating back to the early days of the Church. It involves exposing a consecrated host, the Blessed Sacrament, allowing people to sit and pray in the presence of Jesus Christ. Adoration specifically refers to any prayer in front of the Blessed Sacrament whether in front of a closed Tabernacle or in front of the exposed host in a monstrance.

    During Eucharistic Adoration one may:

    • Read and reflect on readings from the Bible or other spiritual writings

    • Pray the Rosary, Divine Mercy Chaplet or any other favorite devotions

    • Converse with God through spontaneous prayer or journaling

    • Sit quietly and listen or just enjoy being in the presence of Christ

  • 4 pm Vigil Mass

    Saturday Oct 5, 2024 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM

Saturday Evening Vigil Mass at 4 pm

At the same time, there is also an ancient tradition (going back even to Judaism) of keeping the Vigil. A Vigil is an observance of a Holy Day on the evening before (sometimes into the night). Even the word “Vigil” comes from Latin for “watchful” or “keeping awake.” The reason that a Mass on Saturday evening satisfies the Sunday obligation is that the Saturday evening Mass is a Vigil Mass for Sunday–you’re anticipating the celebration of Sunday on the evening before!

Join Father Kris as he celebrates the Sacrifice of the Mass at 4 pm.
